I was wondering if the bears had any advice as what to do with a free college education. My dads medically retiring form the army, and as a benefit the va is willing to pay 50k for any further education of his children. I’m currently an apprentice electrician, and would like to stay in the field. But at the same time, there may be utility in an engineering degree. Any bears have advice on how I might use this to benefit Beartaria?
Take classes at a local college for something tangential like agricultural or animal husbandry. I don't reckon degrees will count for much fairly soon. better to take advantage of gatheriing knowledge and making connections nearby. Lots of smaller schools offer very cool programs in actual useful topics. Not saying that engineering isn't useful, just that is seems you're already in that lane of knowledge and it would be useful to branch out into other interests.
That’s a good point. I only think an engineering degree would be useful because then I’d have the knowledge to build and design electrical systems. I definitely see a future in have knowledge at all levels in term s of generation and distribution.
You can gain that knowledge elsewhere with time since you are already in the field. the point of schooling is to accelerate your understanding of a subject because you are utilizing the knowledge and experience of someone else to give you a jumpstart. getting schooling in another topic will keep your mind filling with more things you don't get to experience everyday.
Awesome point. I think I'll look into programs that I otherwise wouldn't easily get exposed to. Thanks for the insight.
I am a senior engineering student, and I actually get paid per semester based on a scholarship I received. From the beginning I wanted to drop out, but my family stopped me. Frankly, I don't think any education is worth it, if you're aware of what you're getting into. I'm saying this as I have another year of classes. The political indoctrination is one thing, but the whole system is oriented against learning. Now, it also depends on your personality. If you're motivated enough to learn things on your own, then just use YouTube. If you'd like some structured learning, then maybe it's something to think about, but vocational stuff is probably better.
