And God struck it down...synchronicity with the BigBear
On Friday we had a discussion with our 10 y.o. about priorities on the homestead, and how he spends his time on the XBox. We homeschool and really want him to understand a bigger picture to life and what's important. We have a laid back parenting style, and believe in empowering him to make his own choices and guiding him in discernment...but the conversation was needed as a reality check.
"Hey kid, there's more to life than gaming. If we're out in the yard sweating/building/fixing/maintaining the animals/property/home/vehicles you should be out there too, learning what you can."
That evening we had a pretty good storm system make it's way through Texas. At 4:45 in the a.m., there was a loud crack and rumble...we shot up out of bed. Did an assessment of everything and discovered the modem was dead, no lights....no light on the XBox and the TV wouldn't turn on.
Everything in the house is grounded and on serge protectors....everything else was fine. Turns out, the power surge was in the phone line, not the powerlines. The only thing hardwired into the modem was the XBox network cable. The surge went through the modem, thru the XBox and HDMI cable to the TV....all 3 zapped.
God had done struck down that boy's XBox....needless to say it was a pretty disappointing morning for the kid. We explained how odd it was and that it obviously was an "act of God" situation.
Later that day, we were listening to Owen's Saturday stream....he started talking God and Government taking toys.....About how God will take away a child's toy because God loves him and it's what's fair....How a boy needs to be out there milking the goats, so he never takes the milk for granted. It was total gravy how that very scenario was playing out in our home at the same time.
We let our son listen to that segment of BB's stream and he "gets it". Fortunately for us, he didn't ask what herpes are.
Wow what a great story, thanks for sharing,
God sure does have a way of working. What a big wink and nod directly to you, straight from the source. Incredible.
You must be doing the right thing.
Powerful stuff! And thanks for that laugh at the end -- I nearly got whiplash I threw back my head in laughter so hard!
Aw, thanks! It was a God thing for sure. Never even occurred to us that the components could fry like that through the phone line. Makes sense though, with stories of people getting electrocuted through the phones back in the day. Guess the surge protectors gave us a false sense of security on this one. We roll with the punches around here....for God is good, all the time.
