Thank you! I appreciate your interest in my music. This will probably be a longer post than anyone anticipated, but here goes.
I do have some samples of music on the web, but they don’t fully represent the authenticity I’ve recently found in myself and with my music. Many of them reflect a state of being and world view I’ve grown out of. I’ll post a few links at the end of this post if you’re curious. I think they are still worth a listen.
I’ve made a handful of tunes in various genres, including a few styles of electronic music, ambient, hip-hop, and more. Nowadays, I make a combination of neo-soul, blues, funk, electronic, and hip-hop. I’ll be releasing two new tracks in this style very soon, after a few years of finding the courage to release music with my own vocals, and I’m in the rhythm of finishing more tunes. I’m very excited about these ones, and I’ll be sure to post those soon.
I’m interested in making all types of music and recently I’ve been aiming towards a sound more balanced in organic and electronic elements. I’m now interested in bluegrass and country music and would like to weave some those sounds into music I make in the future.
Now for the gravy, which is the name I’ve been going by for years, “eyelove”. For me, this name was all about getting in touch with the things that matter most…”what do I love?” In some way, I saw taking the “I” out of the name and replacing it with “eye” removed a sense of ego and I thought of it as God’s eye, or God’s love. It wasn’t until much later that I learned about the symbology of the one eye in free-masonry and to make things even more peculiar, I had started connecting with the totem and using the image of the owl as well. Suffice to say that I unwittingly walked into using two symbols commonly used by secret societies for my music. (Illuminati confirmed…) 😉
The ultimate irony is that when I first started trying to come up with a name for my music, I thought about “Er-Bear” as it was a nickname growing up, as my name is Eric, but I was sort of shamed out of using it, for the reason it was “too cutesy.” These days, I think I was possibly being subtly influenced as an MK puppet, but somehow I deprogrammed, much to whomever’s chagrin. Who knows?
I’ve just started a “Music Bear” soundcloud and I’ll soon be posting music there. I’ll be continuing to use my name eyelove as well, as I know what I originally intended when choosing that name. Perhaps there will be some overlap, but I’m going to be more selective in curating the Music Bear soundcloud.
Thanks for reading my story and if you’re interested in hearing what I’ve made up until now here are some links to a few selections:
(excuse the faulty moonlight reflection reference; written before the gravy)
Ambient House Music
(give this a whirl, its not your typical house music)
(what do you think? rename this one “bear medicine” and take out the owl sound?)
(I know, sounds like an oxymoron, but you’ll get it if you listen to the lyrics)
(one of the first I ever put out, chill relaxing vibe)
