Hello. I have no experience with Rossi. I understand why you'd want to choose a handgun round, since the ammo is less expensive generally than rifle calibers. Unfortunately, the ballistics of handgun rounds rarely hold a candle to rifle rounds. If you visit a site like ballistics101.com and compare, you'll see what I mean. For lever action guns, I recommend you stick to a rifle cartridge if you're hunting with it. You couldn't go wrong with the classic 30-30 Winchester. It will reliably down a deer or hog with one shot, and carries, typically, about 3 times the muzzle energy of a .357 magnum bullet. Ammo costs more, but you're not into "mandatory reload" cost territory yet. Good luck in your search.
